6 THE 2025 GLOBE G L O B A L N E W S support and nearly $100,000 in dental and medical supplies toward ICD-led projects. This aid helped bring essential oral health care, education and resources to thousands of people in vulnerable communities. See a glimpse of just some of the critical missions supported by the ICD in this journal’s “Projects & Missions” segment. The grant program is accessible to all ICD Fellows and Sections, and the global fundraising campaign seeks to increase the number of cash grants available to ICD projects annually. New era in ICD communications begins Under the direction of Global Editor Dov Sydney, the College has embarked on a new phase in its communication strategy with the launch of the monthly newsletter, Connect. This marks a significant departure from traditional publications, embracing a continuous and real-time flow of information that more accurately reflects the organization’s global activities. The rebranded ICD website now functions as a dynamic hub, where updates are promptly posted, enhancing both immediacy and visibility. Additionally, The Globe has undergone a complete redesign to reduce distribution costs and improve accessibility for print readers. Our award-winning annual publication showcases the past year’s most exceptional content in both print and digital formats. Overall, this evolution establishes a more agile and outward-facing communication system, enabling the sharing of achievements, initiatives and member contributions on a broader and more efficient scale. Building sustainability and organizational capacity As the ICD’s visibility and partnerships develop, the organization is intentionally strengthening its infrastructure to match its expanding opportunities while remaining vigilant to its mission and strategy. For the College to advance its mission and remain viable into the future, it must focus on building sustainability alongside growth. This includes evaluating programs for relevance, diversifying income, enhancing membership value, streamlining operations and investing in systems that support long‑term stability. This underlying concept of organizational sustainability is critical for the College to continue honoring the world’s leading dentists while providing mission-aligned services and programming. These objectives are at the core of the current global fundraising campaign—strengthening the ICD’s strategic financial abilities and improving internal capacity. Recognizing that its global fellowship is its greatest asset, ICD is working to better measure and communicate the collective impact of all Fellows’ outreach and philanthropic services. Capturing and sharing this data enables the ICD to partner directly with charities, companies and public institutions. These efforts have already resulted in new sponsorships and emerging collaborations. Global engagement and brand visibility A renewed global initiative is strengthening the ICD’s identity and recognition worldwide. Leaders and Sections received updated guidance last year on the consistent use of official ICD symbols, including the ICD Logo, Fellowship Key, Lapel Pin and ICD Anthem to elevate the brand while respecting regional traditions. This initiative, spearheaded by a new ad hoc committee, seeks to improve on past efforts to make the ICD universally known, respected and admired among oral health leaders, professionals, partners and stakeholders. The College’s new monthly newsletter, Connect, is quickly gaining traction, showing strong engagement and growing readership. A favorite among Fellows, the official ICD Lapel Pin continues to stand out as the recognized symbol of the College worldwide.
