THE 2025 GLOBE
SECTION HIGHLIGHTS
Celebrating Section status with the inaugural international seminar
S
ection XVI Indonesia celebrated its transition from a
Region to an autonomous Section in 2025, anchored
by the first ICD Indonesia International Seminar and
Induction held from Sept. 5 to 6, 2025, in Bali. Hosted with
Mahasaraswati University, the event welcomed ICD Global
leaders: President Ian Doyle and Past-President Ho Youl
Chang. Under Section XVI President Hananto Seno and
Section XVI Registrar Secretary Laksmi Dwiati, the pro-
gram featured 16 speakers from Korea, Japan, Singapore,
the U.S., UK and Indonesia. The seminar attracted 260 par-
ticipants for scientific sessions, workshops and an exhibition
featuring 20 dental companies. The event solidified Indone-
sia’s new standing while fostering fellowship through a cul-
tural gala and a farewell sunset dinner at Jimbaran Beach,
bridging international academic exchange with professional
networking.
Elevating clinical expertise and collaborations
Academic rigor defined the Bali seminar through a scien-
tific program featuring 13 international and three Indone-
sian speakers. Beyond lectures, the event hosted six hands-on
workshops and a poster competition for 14 international den-
tists. A student resume competition further engaged the next
generation, drawing participants from Udayana University
and Mahasaraswati University. High-level institutional co-
operation was a central theme, highlighted by a Memoran-
dum of Understanding for Continuing Professional Educa-
tion between Section XVI, Udayana University and Korea’s
Medical Device Industry Promotion Foundation. These
partnerships, alongside participation from dental faculties
across Indonesia, Japan and South Korea, emphasize Sec-
tion XVI’s dedication to evidence-based clinical advance-
ment and cross-border research.
Delivering “Bright Smiles, Shining Future”
The Section’s commitment to service was exemplified by the
“Bright Smiles, Shining Future” project held June 20–21,
2025, targeting 4,000 students and 1,700 residents in East Ja-
karta. This effort provided free dental check-ups, treatments
and oral health education. This spirit of service culminated
in the induction of 80 new Fellows, including five professors
and four deans from across the Indonesian archipelago. Sec-
tion XVI President Seno emphasized that fellowship serves
as a mandate for community outreach and ethical leader-
ship. Despite a rigorous selection process,
the Section continues to grow, successfully
uniting professionals from Sumatra to the
Maluku Islands dedicated to the College’s
core values of integrity and global humani-
tarian compassion.
