Recognition was also extended to 13 individuals with ap- preciation awards, alongside 42 student merit awards and honors for essay, e-poster and reel competitions. The convo- cation concluded with a formal change of leadership as Dr. V.S. Kohli assumed the presidency from Dr. Meera Verma. Under this new leadership, Section VI remains committed to fostering diversity and inclusivity while advancing the core values of professionalism and empathy in a changing clinical landscape. Humanitarian outreach across regions Dedicated to bringing smiles to many faces, the Fellows of Section VI engaged in a wide range of humanitarian out- reach across all zones. In zones Center 3 and East 1, Fellows supplied free medicines and oral hygiene products and orga- nized a blood donation camp. In the Central Zone, Fellows provided wheelchairs at a local old-age home to enhance residents’ mobility. Public health outreach remained a pri- ority, with KD Dental College and the Section conducted comprehensive checkups at Swami Vivekanand School to facilitate early disease detection. Furthermore, the Eastern Zone celebrated International Women’s Day by organizing dedicated awareness programs. These initiatives reflect the Section’s ongoing commitment to delivering high-quality care with a human touch, ensuring that dental services reach the most vulnerable populations. Education, prevention and public engagement Firmly believing that “a country needs educated people to progress,” Section VI organized numerous Continuing Den- tal Education (CDE) programs in zones East 1, North 1, West 1, South 1 and Center 1. Equally committed to the principle that “prevention is better than cure,” Central Zone leader- ship conducted seven screening camps, performing checkups for 535 patients and educating approximately 700 individu- als on dietary habits and proper brushing techniques. Ad- ditionally, over 1,000 students received oral hygiene instruc- tions at Dr. Chandarana’s Museum of Dentistry. To combat tobacco use, the Section organized public rallies across all zones for World No Tobacco Day. This included a creative “nukkad natak” performance in Jabalpur to visually illus- trate the dangers of tobacco consumption. Through these diverse platforms, Section VI strengthens professionals’ knowledge while empowering the public with the tools necessary for long-term oral health mainte- nance and disease prevention.
