THE 2025 GLOBE
As a pilot project, complimentary print editions of this Jour-
nal are being shared with our 2026 inductees and a geo-
graphically diverse group of Fellows. Unlike digital publi-
cations, the print edition provides a permanent, tangible
representation of the College and its international footprint.
It is especially valuable to newly inducted Fellows as a lasting
introduction to the ICD’s humanitarian impact and global
reach. I welcome your comments.
The Globe will continue to explore innovative ways to engage
readers, while our covers maintain their decade-long focus
on telling the remarkable story of the ICD and its impact on
the oral health of individuals and com-
munities in need around the world.

The covers assembled here, beginning in 2012, reflect a deliberate shift that coincided with my appointment as
Editor-in-Chief. I was given a clear directive: make the College’s humanitarian reach visible through its publica-
tions. The goal was not redesign for its own sake, but to bring clarity to the scope and reach of the College’s global
footprint.
What the covers reveal
Past, present and what lies ahead
That goal was established with the first issue under the new
guidelines. Titled “The College’s Humanitarian Impact,”
it set the tone for more than a decade: care delivered, edu-
cation advanced and lives changed.
The results are measurable. The Globe received multiple in-
ternational journalism awards for design, editorial direc-
tion and visual storytelling. More importantly, surveys dis-
tributed to more than 12,000 recipients showed that 90%
of them reported reading it.
Reader feedback also shaped the journal’s evolution. Fel-
lows asked for clearer visibility into Section activity and
outcomes. In response, “Section Highlights” now gives
each Section a defined presence, supported by QR-linked
content for those who want deeper access.
“Projects & Missions” builds on the popularity of the for-
mer “Impact” segment, where photojournalism was maxi-
mized to tell the story of ICD Fellows’ commitment to
serving vulnerable communities lacking quality oral health-
care. Meanwhile, “Global News” delivers a broader view of
leadership priorities and activities across the College.
