Section II is also revitalizing its presence in Quebec, where it will host its first bilingual event in May 2026 alongside the Journées dentaires internationales du Québec. Professional development and national member engagement The debut of the first national webinar series served as the centerpiece of Section II’s effort to elevate the ICD brand and professional engagement across the Canadian dental community. This inaugural session featured Section II Fellow Deborah Saunders, medical director of the Dental Oncology Program at the Northeast Cancer Centre, who presented the critical topic of HPV and head and neck cancer prevention. This initiative reflects a commitment to high-level clinical education addressing profound issues in modern dentistry. By leveraging digital platforms, Section II aims to enhance the recruitment and retention of Fellows nationwide while fostering a culture of continuous learning and academic excellence within the Canadian dental community. Global humanitarian service and selfless leadership The Spence Foundation anchors the Section’s commit- ment to service by funding global humanitarian dental mis- sions. This legacy is supported by Section II Editor Drew Smith and Fellow Carol Martin, who donated editorial sti- pends and tartan proceeds, respectively. The Section also recognized Past President Maureen Lefebvre for her ser- vice as International Councilor.
