2 0 THE 2025 GLOBE SECTION HIGHLIGHTS Advancing collaboration, recognition and service across the Middle East S ection X initiated a significant leadership transition during its Annual Assembly in February 2025. Fol- lowing the successful tenure of Immediate Past Presi- dent Nasser AlHamlan, Dr. Philip Souhaid was inducted as President for the 2025–2027 term alongside President-Elect Edmond Koyess and Registrar Anthony Macari. During the ceremony in Beirut, Dr. Souhaid outlined a vision rooted in cross-institutional cooperation, innovation and expanded involvement in dental public health. This new executive team prioritized organizational stability and unity, empha- sizing the Section’s commitment to growing its professional network while deepening humanitarian impact across the region. The transition underscored the College’s mission to foster ethical leadership and collaborative service within the diverse Middle Eastern dental community. Honoring research and clinical achievement Academic distinction remained a focal point through the 2025 Scientific Sessions held in June and December at the Gefinor Rotana, Beirut. Section X honored the next genera- tion of dental professionals through the prestigious Tabou- rian Research Award, which recognizes outstanding post- graduate dental research. Additionally, the Tamer Clinical Excellence Award and Undergraduate Merit Awards cele- brated top graduating students from the American Univer- sity of Beirut, Lebanese University, Beirut Arab University and Saint Joseph University. These accolades, supported by the Tabourian and Tamer families, symbolize the Section’s dedication to fostering future leaders. Keynote lectures, in- cluding a reflective study on Lebanese dental history by Sec- tion X Fellow Elie Maalouf, further bridged the gap between historical foundations and modern evidence-based research. Expanding regional fellowship and service The 2025 induction ceremony showcased the expanding regional footprint of Section X, welcoming 15 new Fellows from Lebanon, Jordan, Kuwait, Oman and Syria. Section President Souhaid and Section Global Councilor Cedric Haddad emphasized that ICD fellowship represents more than professional recognition; it is a lifelong mandate for community outreach and service to underserved popula- tions. Despite regional travel challenges, the Section main- tained its momentum, successfully uniting outstanding pro- fessionals dedicated to the College’s values of integrity and compassion. The year concluded with a gala celebration, reaffirming the Section’s role in shaping the future of dentistry through a powerful blend of academic rigor, regional diversity and a steadfast commitment to the service of humanity.
