11 THE 2025 GLOBE SECTION HIGHLIGHTS Going beyond honorary recognition T hroughout 2025, Section I President Eliot Paisner advocated for a fellowship defined by active par- ticipation rather than just honorary recognition. Under his leadership, Section I functioned as a global net- work that fostered leadership development and professional growth through regional and international events. These ef- forts were reinforced by the ICD USA Section Foundation, which provided grants to fund oral health projects worldwide. This institutional support ensured that like-minded Fellows could translate their professional integrity into meaningful action, fulfilling the College’s core mission of serving others through collaborative humanitarian initiatives. The volunteer portal: Streamlining humanitar- ian engagement To turn professional intent into volunteer action, Section I’s Board of Regents launched a new web portal, currently accessible via the provided QR code. This platform con- nects Fellows directly with service projects and leadership roles that utilize their specific clinical expertise. By cen- tralizing these resources, Section I amplified the reach of individual dental professionals on a global scale. The ini- tiative successfully removed the logistical hurdles to vol- unteering, ensuring that service opportunities remained accessible to the entire fellowship. This streamlined ap- proach allowed members to engage more effectively with humanitarian work throughout the year. Historic growth: Record-breaking 432 induct- ees in 2025 Section I reached a significant milestone in 2025 by in- ducting a record-breaking 432 new Fellows. President Paisner attributed this growth to the diligence of current members who identified and nominated colleagues who lived out the College’s foundational values. This peer- driven recruitment strengthened the ICD legacy, ensuring it remains rooted in shared honor and collective responsi- bility. By maintaining these high standards for induction, Section I secured a future of sustained leadership. These new Fellows represent a new generation of leaders prepared to meet the needs of diverse communities while upholding the Section’s commit- ment to service.
