The Japan Section continues to look forward, prac- ticing its noble ideals with a commitment to mutual understanding and a spirit of service. Focus on diversity, empathy and the next generation of Fellows S ection VII Japan continues to promote a strong sense of belonging among its Fellows. President Morioki Fujitani emphasizes that while individual perspec- tives may vary, the organization deeply respects diversity. By adapting to the times while valuing dignity and integrity, the Section aims to eliminate uncertainty regarding the respon- sibilities of fellowship. This past year, its leadership focused on rebuilding the Section’s foundation by encouraging active participation in major gatherings, such as the induction cer- emony and scientific meetings. Building on the concept of diversity, the Section has intro- duced “empathy” as a key theme for 2025. Fellowship activi- ties serve as a platform for members to understand different perspectives and strengthen mutual bonds. By imagining the thoughts and feelings of colleagues with different val- ues, Fellows can support each other with a spirit of coopera- tion. This empathetic approach ensures that the noble ideals passed down by distinguished pioneers remain relevant and vibrant in a modern dental landscape. Scientific innovation and distinguished recognition Academic excellence remains a cornerstone of Section VII activities. The 55th Winter Scientific Meeting, held Mar. 2, 2025, at Nihon University, addressed future challenges in dental care. Five distinguished professors proposed new directions for clinical practice, management and education.
