Section XV REPORT We organize annual congresses, section council meetings and induc- tion ceremonies rotating amongst our component districts. To date, we have organized five annual con- gresses since 2014. Our 5th ICD Section XV Congress was jointly organized with ICD China Section XIII on June 19-21, 2018, in Macau. This received tremendous support from the Macau govern- ment, as well as China. There were 500 registered delegates, 189 new inductees, 20 international speak- ers, six hands-on workshops, two full days of Council meetings, one gala dinner, one Macau night, one free city tour and one humanitarian project involved. The highlight was the President and CEO of Henry Schein, Mr. Stanley Bergman, who flew in specially to deliver a keynote speech on “Volunteering in Dental Humanitarianism”. We have also jointly organized a Belt and Road Forum with China and signed a Memorandum of Un- derstanding with ICD China Section XIII to foster stronger regional coop- eration. On July 1-2, 2019, we shall have our 6th ICD Section XV Internation- al Congress & Induction Ceremony in Bangkok, Thailand. We shall be jointly organizing this with Chul- alongkorn University. President’s Greeting Kim Chuan How S ection XV evolved from Section XX Asia on October 7, 2017. We are unique as we are not a single country, but 13 countries and districts joined together to form an autonomous Section. We are officially registered with Registry of Singapore. We have a well-represented Council, with members from each component country or district, as well as from civil services, academics and private practice. Our core mission is education and humanitarian service. For education, we formed a team of volunteers ICD speakers who volunteer to speak at regional conferences. For humanitarian service, we established a Humanitarian Fund, with a starting capital of US $40,000, and we hope to grow this fund into a foundation within five years. The 13 countries of Section XV teamed up with Section XIII China for an impressive and successful dental congress in Macau. We expect at least 500 interna- tional delegates and 2,000 Thai dentists to attend this Congress. We warmly, cordially and respect- fully invite all ICD Sections leaders, International Councilors and Fel- lows across five continents to attend our humble Congress. Early Stages of Development Thirteen countries were previously working under the flag of ICD Sec- tion XX Asia and were conducting annual conferences and convoca- tion ceremonies from 2013-2017 in Malaysia. With the increasing num- ber of Fellows, there was a need for an autonomous body which can look into the matters of each country and Fellow at a gross level. The target was achieved and the International Council approved the new Section XV. The 13 countries of Section XV, namely Malaysia, Singapore, Indo- nesia, Brunei, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Bangladesh, Paki- stan, Hong Kong, Macau and Af- ghanistan, were formally chartered by President Dr. Rajesh Chandna. A preliminary council was established at the 1st Inaugural International Induction Ceremony at the Univer- sity Technology, Mara, on Octover 7, 2017, and a formal inauguration of Section XV was performed.
