Registrar’s Report Rajiv K. Chugh As a preeminent honour society of the dentists in South East Asia, ICD Section VI adopted a proactive and energetic strategy of establishing itself as a brand with strategy and concrete objectives. The dawn of 2019 welcomed new office bearers presided by Presi- dent Dr. K.K. Chopra. The responsi- bilities to marshal the professionals in unison have been shared by sev- eral other team members, includ- ing President Elect Dr. R.P. Gupta, Registrar Dr. Rajiv K. Chugh, Vice President Dr. Swatantra Agarwal, Treasurer Dr. Meera Verma, Chief Editor Dr. S.M. Balaji, Scientific Edi- tor Dr. Vijay P. Mathur, Chairman of CDE Dr. Mahesh Verma and Chairman of CDH Dr. U.S. Krishna Nayak. Nominations of zonal heads and deputy zonal heads were also completed. The year bygone saw stupendous endeavours by Section VI to esca- late the status of dentistry through dynamic social and academic causes, great strides and accom- plishments. The Immediate Past President Prof. O.P. Kharbanda, and the entire entourage, have re- lentlessly strived to reach the com- munity through special services. These events remind us of the ICD President’s Greeting K.K. Chopra I t gives me great pleasure to take over as the President of Section VI India, Sri Lanka, Nepal, of the International College of Dentists (ICD), one of the oldest and the most prestigious organizations in the world. Our emphasis this year will be Fellowship growth in terms of adding new Fellows and bringing back old Fellows who have desert- ed the College, besides carrying out scientific, community and social activities. Our plan for the year is to have programs dedicated to aware- ness on infection control protocols and antibiotic resistance. We are also working to improve our jour- nal, which has been the backbone of our Section. I have an excellent team to support the programs for this year, and I follow a productive year of scientific and social projects under President O.P. Kharbanda. Core Values – Integrity, Leadership and Service. Helping People, Changing Lives Several outreach programs across India were initiated in 2018. Inclu- sive among these were “Special Smiles heath program”, for the intellectually-challenged individu- als; the “Health talk with special children” at the Shraddha- Saaburi Centre; and an exclusive event named “AID–Adesh’s Initiative for Destitute”, to offer dental treatment at a concession to the elderly. Sub- stantial efforts were made to spread awareness among the general pub- lic for oral health through check-up and treatment camps. The interrelation between oral and general health was under- scored through the walkathon “Think Mouth Think Health” on Section VI INDIA, SRI LANKA, NEPAL Section VI Fellows support ICD Core Values through social and community programs that provide oral care treatment and education.
