The latest ICD induction ceremo- ny was conducted in Auckland on August 17, 2018. Sixty-four Fellows and guests attended the luncheon with 17 new Fellows inducted. This was the largest induction cer- emony ever held in New Zealand. Photo Album Section Organization The state-based committees have been active organising functions to allow more casual venues and were a successful opportunity for ex- change of program ideas and pro- fessional camaraderie. Queensland hosted a well-attended evening with three speakers, including a recent dental graduate recipient of the ICD-sponsored volunteering program. Melbourne hosted an af- ternoon with invitations allowing an introduction for the final-year den- tal students to the College. Whilst Western Australia made the most of their Sundowner function. The board of Section VIII ap- proved an ICD Volunteerism Grant, which will be awarded annually to a dentist in the Australasian region with less than 10 years’ experience in clinical practice. The aims of the President’s Greeting John Owen AM T he Australasian Section is vi- brant and continues to grow, with 736 Fellows currently. We enjoyed a well-attended Sydney induction on March 24, 2018, where 37 new Fellows were inducted. In addition, two Honorary Fellowships were bestowed to Wendy Toulmin and Keith Mentiplay. Wendy has worked tirelessly to improve oral health in the communities of the Democratic Republic of the Congo. Keith has made significant contribu- tions of leadership and support for many dental humanitarian projects over many years.
