Iconic Handshake with Pope Francis Undoubtably, the “promotional coup of the century” was having College representatives and symbols photo- graphed during a personal audience with Pope Francis in Rome last September. The reserved time for ICD to have direct access to the Pontiff provided the opportunity to cap- ture excellent optics in photos taken by the official Vatican photographer, while receiving the pope’s sincere support for our humanitarian programs and the Centennial. The event and explanation of the College Core Val- ues were covered by press outlets around the world. The pope was presented with a unique book, with the ICD and Centennial logos prominently displayed, espe- cially designed and produced for the meeting featuring the European Section’s humanitarian program in Ango- la. The audience with the Holy Father catapulted in the minds of many outside the ICD, the position the College already holds as a truly global institution whose recog- nition and accomplishments are acknowledged at the highest levels. Sections are encouraged to promote the media generated with this historic College event, includ- ing dissemination of the press release and the video of the iconic handshake with the pope. Centennial promotions were very much on the agenda throughout the meetings, including preparations for the joint ADA-FDI meeting this year in San Francisco, where the College, with the support of Henry Schein, will be officially launching the start of the 2020 Centennial celebrations throughout the world. Meetings with ADA and FDI leaders are ongoing and promise to make San Francisco a great launch. THE DT ARTICLE was published througout the world.
