Section XX, Region 41 Bangladesh hosted a scientific seminar and certificate distribution ceremony for its newest Fellows. The event, held May 8, 2026, at the Lake View Convention Hall, brought together dental leaders to celebrate academic excellence and global fellowship.
The ceremony honored 13 newly inducted Fellows who were previously unable to attend the Dr. Herbert and Inez Yee ICD Global Convocation Ceremony at the 2025 Greater New York Dental Meeting due to visa-related challenges. By hosting this regional gathering, Region 41 ensured these leaders received proper recognition for their professional achievements and dedication to the progress of dentistry.
The seminar was attended by approximately 120 participants, including more than 80 ICD Fellows. The Dean of the Faculty of Dentistry at Bangladesh Medical University attended as the guest of honor. Senior professionals representing diverse dental specialties, including oral and maxillofacial surgery, endodontics, prosthodontics, periodontology, orthodontics and pedodontics, participated in the program alongside all Region 41 subcommittee chairpersons.
The academic program featured six prominent speaker Fellows who delivered presentations on contemporary dental topics and professional development: Abeed Rahman, Kamruzzaman, Mizanur Rahman, Abdullah Al Masud, Prof. Abdul Hannan Sheikh and Maj. Gen. Golam Mohuddin Chowdhury. They presented on various topics, including advances in clinical practice, oral healthcare management, implant dentistry, oral cancer, endodontic myths and emerging trends in dental education and patient care.
Regent Prof. Motiur Rahman Molla addressed the gathering, emphasizing the importance of professional excellence, ethical leadership, lifelong learning and service to humanity through dentistry. He encouraged Fellows to uphold the College’s prestigious values and serve as ambassadors for professional integrity and humanitarian service.
Vice Regent Shakhawat Hossain Choton, the primary coordinator for the event, congratulated the new Fellows and highlighted the significance of the ICD Fellowship as a recognition of professional achievement and commitment to community service. He also expressed the section’s commitment to strengthening professional development opportunities and international collaboration among dentists in Bangladesh.
The event concluded with the formal presentation of fellowship certificates. Many of the new Fellows expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate this milestone with colleagues, mentors and family members. Fellow Manjurul Alam Sagor shared his experience:
“Receiving my ICD Fellowship Certificate in the presence of respected leaders and colleagues in Bangladesh was a proud and memorable moment. Although I could not attend the Convocation in New York, this ceremony made me feel truly recognized as part of the global ICD family.”
