A Fellow of the International College of Dentists (FICD)

Membership in the College, signified by the honorary title of Fellow International College of Dentists (FICD), is by invitation only. The honor is bestowed upon those dentists who have made significant contributions to the profession or their communities and have successfully completed a thorough peer review process.

A dentist awarded Fellowship in the College is granted the right to place the letters FICD after their name in accordance with the usage and restrictions as designated by the College Bylaws.

Requirements for Fellowship can be found in the ICD Global Bylaws and Standing Rules.

Categories of Fellowship:

  • Active Fellows: These individuals are, at the time of their induction, dentists in active practice as it applies to any facet of dentistry including clinical practice, administration, teaching or research, and be in good standing in their respective countries.
  • Life Fellows: A Fellow is eligible for Life Fellowship when they have fulfilled the requirements set forth by the Board of Regents or governing body of their Section and may include retirement from practice, research, administering or teaching of dentistry. Life Fellows hold all same privileges as Active Fellows, and additional criteria can be found in the ICD Global Standing Rules.
  • Honorary Fellows: The Board of Regents or governing body of a Section may confer Honorary Fellowship upon an individual, other than a member of the College and not necessarily a dentist, who has rendered conspicuous service to the cause of dental science or has contributed to the promotion of the dental profession.
  • Master Fellows: Master Fellowship is both a category of Fellowship and a significant award conferred by the College to deserving Fellows. Masters shall, at the time of their induction, be Active Fellows or Life Members who have rendered conspicuous and outstanding service to the College. Master Fellowship is considered rare, and additional criteria can be found in the ICD Global Standing Rules.
