For more than a century, the International College of Dentists has celebrated service to the profession and advanced humanitarian
and educational oral health initiatives worldwide.
Our Building a Legacy of Impact Campaign seeks to raise $2 million USD or more to strengthen our global community of Fellows, expand support for humanitarian oral health initiatives and education, and engage in collaborative partnerships.
The campaign focuses on four priority areas aligned with our strategic objectives:
- Enhancing the Fellow experience
- The Global Oral Health Leadership Institute (GOHLI)
- The Global Visionary Fund (GVF)
- Strategic Financial Reserve Fund

Giving Opportunities
As a nonprofit, the International College of Dentists relies on donations to fund its global humanitarian and educational initiatives. Gifts of all sizes are needed and greatly appreciated. Donors may make unrestricted contributions or direct their support to an existing ICD fund.

Stock and Securities
Gifts of stock or securities that are publicly traded can be donated to the ICD. A donation of stock fuels our mission and objectives worldwide and may provide the donor with significant tax breaks depending on the donor’s local tax laws. To make a donation of stock or other security, please contact office@icd.org
Qualified Charitable Distribution
A qualified charitable distribution (QCD) allows U.S. taxpayers 70 ½ years old and older to donate up to $108,000 per year directly from an IRA (Individual Retirement Arrangement) to an U.S. 501(c)(3) nonprofit, tax-free. The donation must be transferred directly from the IRA to the nonprofit. The donation counts toward a required minimum distribution (RMD) and is not included in the donor’s taxable income. A QCD can be made from any tax-deferred IRA account except a SEP (Simplified Employee Pension plan) or SIMPLE IRA that the donor is still contributing to. The deadline to make a QCD is December 31 of the tax year, and the limit for QCDs is adjusted for inflation. To make a qualified charitable distribution, please contact office@icd.org
Tribute and Honorary Gifts
Honoring a special person in your life with a gift to the ICD creates a personal and lasting tribute to the important work of the College. You can specify for whom or to what area you are making your gift. The ICD will help arrange a legacy gift or endowment according to the donor’s request and can also provide language or information for a loved one’s obituary or memorial page, if requested. Endowments
An endowment gift is one of the most powerful ways you can support dental student scholarships, educational programs or humanitarian projects. When you establish an endowment for the College, the investment provides sustainable financial support. To make set up an endowment gift, please contact office@icd.org
Estate Gifts
Bequests (will or living trust) The ICD accepts bequests, and it will seek to understand bequest intentions whenever possible in order to fulfill the wishes of the donor. Every attempt will be made to educate the donor involved about our gift acceptance policies, so that mutual expectations are met to the benefit of those served by ICD.
Gifts of Life Insurance Donors may name the ICD as beneficiary of, paid up or self-sustaining, life insurance policies to receive a portion or all of the benefits of life insurance policies which donors have purchased on their lives. To make a deferred gift, please contact office@icd.org
Tangible Personal Property
Jewelry, artwork, collections and other gifts of personal property can be donated to the ICD. The donor shall determine the value of the gift for charitable deduction purposes. All gifts of personal property must be saleable in order to be accepted by the ICD. Gifts of personal property designated for use by specific service areas or particular programs may be accepted by the ICD on their behalf. The ICD, not specific programs or individuals, will have ownership of the personal property. Gifts of personal property that obligate either entity to ownership or maintenance in perpetuity generally will not be accepted. The College will ensure that the property is adequately insured prior to sale, as appropriate. In general, we are not able to accept perishable property. - NEW! July 2026: Campaign Co-Chair Leo challenges Sections through matching gift of up to $160,000 USD during the public phase, to support one or more of the campaign’s strategic priorities. Dr. Liu’s challenge gift will match up to $10,000 in contributions from each Section, on behalf of Fellows in the Section or from the Section itself, by the end of this year. Dr. Liu understands all Fellows worldwide are part of one ICD team working toward the same mission.
- June 2026: The global campaign asks for support from every Fellow across the globe
- May 2026: The global campaign aspires to reach every ICD Fellow around the world with their upcoming spring appeal
- March 2026: As part of the campaign efforts, ICD announces a new partnership with Colgate-Palmolive, a caring, innovative growth company that is reimagining a healthier future for all people, their pets and our planet.
- March 2026: The College’s ability to meet the needs of HOPEthiopia’s ongoing outreach efforts globally is made possible by the generous donations of Fellows and long-term support of the Global Visionary Fund-Henry Schein grant program. To ensure we can continue to respond to international needs and provide strategic support to organizations like HOPEthiopia, the College hopes to increase its capacity of humanitarian grants through this campaign.
- February 2026: The Global Visionary Fund, one of the campaign’s priorities, was brought to life through a $10,000 joint funding effort for Jamaica. This partnership between the GVF and the USA Section Foundation directly supports first responders in stabilizing the oral and systemic health of storm-affected populations.
- January 2026: ICD launches first-ever capital campaign! The Building a Legacy of Impact campaign seeks to raise $2 million to strengthen our global community and expand humanitarian and educational initiatives, such as the Global Visionary Fund and Global Oral Health Leadership Institute. Backed by nearly $1 million in early commitments, this effort enables the College to pursue long-term strategic priorities and collaborative partnerships worldwide.
