Pakistan, Afghanistan The ICD Region 24 Afghanistan, Pakistan is now a District of the new Section XV. Before Section XV was officially chartered, Region 24 was highly active in humanitarian and educational programs, under the leadership of Prof. Arshad Malik, Regent of Afghanistan and Pakistan. ICD Pakistan participated in World Oral Health Day on March 20, 2017, in collaboration with local non-government organizations, national dental newspapers and other publications and broadcasting agencies. Seminars were held for students and dental surgeons. The local communities were involved with oral education, and many Fellows examined and treated patients in honor of this important day. PHOTO ALBUM Indonesia Formerly known as Region 38, ICD Indonesia is now part of the new Section XV. A pleasant surprise occurred during the inaugural Section XV ceremonies in October 2017; An unexpected delegation of eight candidates from Indonesia were nominated and approved for fellowship. This was remarkable because previously the College has not been successful in attracting Fellows from Indonesia. We extend thanks to Regent Mohamed Ibrahim Abu-Hassan, of Malaysia. He is a leader among the dental school deans in South East Asia. Using contacts and friendships establishedwiththedentalacademic community in Indonesia, he was able to generate this new interest. Indonesia is a nation with a vast population, and this development is a sign of increased potential for the new Section XV. THE GLOBE 2018 SECTION REPORTS 5 5
