Section XX in attendance were International President Rajesh Chandna, International Councilor KC How, Region 41 Regent Mostaque Sattar, of Bangladesh, and Region 33 Regent Mohammad Abu-Hassan, of Malaysia. PHOTO ALBUM Myanmar is a leading activist among the Sections and Regions of the College. Annually, two or more humanitarian projects are delivered to the underserved populations. The Myanmar Region also organizes educational events such as the annual Mandalay Dental Conference together with the Myanmar Dental Association. An ICD Professional Develop- ment Program was held at the Myanmar University of Dental Med- icine on November 17, 2017. Dr. Stuart Loos, International Councilor of the ICD USA Section, delivered a lecture, “Bioengineering the Smile”, to ICD Myanmar Fellows, Profes- sors, teaching-staff persons and dental students. Dr. Loos and his spouse, Mrs. Sally Jo Loos, visited Myanmar af- ter the International Council meet- ing in Taiwan and were introduced to the President of Myanmar Dental Council, the President of Myanmar Dental Association and the Dean of Myanmar Dental University. PHOTO ALBUM Registrar’s Report John V. Hinterman E xciting changes took place in 2017 that directly impacted Section XX Regions. There were three successful convocation ceremonies in Asia. Eight Section XX Regions collaborated to form a new, autonomous ICD Section of their own, Section XV. Additionally, new ICD prospects were made in Guatemala and Central America. Myanmar Region 42 Myanmar conducted their first convocation as a new Section XX Region on January 17, 2017, in conjunction with a Continuing Dental Education (CDE) program. Under the leadership of Region 42 Regent Myo Thant and Vice Regent Thin Naing Oo, 27 new Fellows were inducted during the ceremony. Also In 2017, some Regions of Section XX underwent historical restructural changes, and others were involved in many humanitarian projects. Guatemala, Central America Regent of Region 21 Guatemala and Central America, Luis Grisolia of Guatemala City, has nominated over 20 candidates for fellowship. An initiation ceremony and charter renewal granting are being planned for May 18, 2018, during the Latin American Dental Congress. The Collegewillsendaspeakertopresent a seminar during the Congress and will sponsor a reception as a gesture of international good will. Dr. Grisolia is Director of post graduate programs at the Universidad Francisco Marroquin Faculty of Dentistry. Dr. Estuardo Mata is Dean of the UFM dental school and will serve as Vice Regent. These leaders will rely on their associations with the dental academic community in Guatemala and Central America to revitalize Region 21. The dental school will be the home base for ICD in Central America. African Regions Hosted by Region 35 EastAfrica and Regent Pankaj Patel, the African Regions are expected to collaborate for a convocation in October 2018, during the Annual Kenya Dental Association Conference in Nairobi.
