Milan Council Meeting Highlights Unified Purpose and Expansion with New Indonesia Section

The 2025 ICD Global Council Meeting in Milan brought together Officers, Councilors and guests from around the world for two full days of focused deliberation, committee work and inspiring camaraderie. Every Section but one was represented, underscoring the truly global reach and unity of the College.

Beyond the formal agenda, the meeting reflected a rare harmony between efficiency and Fellowship. Each element, from venues and sessions to evening gatherings, was thoughtfully designed to create a unified experience. What might have been a routine business meeting became something far more meaningful: a reaffirmation of the ICD’s shared mission and enduring spirit.

The Council addressed a wide range of matters central to the College’s continued evolution, including governance updates, Section development, fundraising and strategic initiatives in communications, membership, education and humanitarian programs. The discussions were productive, forward-looking and filled with the sense of purpose that defines the ICD.

Among the highlights was the special welcome extended to the delegation from the China Section and the celebration of the newly-established Indonesia Section, the College’s 17th. The enthusiasm and participation of all delegations symbolized the ICD’s expanding influence and unity of purpose. A particularly memorable moment came when two Fellows were considered for the same leadership position, and one graciously withdrew to preserve harmony, an act that perfectly embodied the ICD’s core values of integrity and collegiality.

The meeting also marked an important leadership transition. The newly elected officers for 2025–2026 will guide the College with renewed energy and shared vision.
