Leadership Program Begins for ’26 GOHLI Cohort

The College announces the second cohort of participants in the Global Oral Health Leadership Institute (GOHLI). This is a diverse group of health practitioners, educators, industry entrepreneurs, policymakers and humanitarians representing 12 countries and various backgrounds. The 2026 program kicked off this month, with the mission of empowering global leaders to advance equitable oral health access and care through an engaged, collaborative network, advocacy and public-private sustainable solutions.

The cohort will convene virtually throughout the year and participate in multiple assessments, leading up to the five-day, immersive residential course in London, in collaboration with Henry Schein, Inc., Colgate-Palmolive, King’s College London and others. The residential course will include intensive group seminars and engaging lectures, personal development and insight tools, leadership styles and human psyche exercises, facilitated peer-to-peer action learning, and a Stakeholders’ Day with built-in networking opportunities, prominent speakers and cross-sector panel discussions.

With increasingly complex economies, politics and funding opportunities worldwide, oral health challenges will require cross-sector alliances, sharing of information and best practices, technology, reallocation of resources and an engaged network of champions. The Institute addresses these challenges by fostering collaborative and strategic relationships and leadership development. It is designed to empower oral health leaders to systemically advance oral health care, equity, access and policy at all levels, especially in underserved communities. Each annual cohort of participants completes the one-year program as a collective and cohesive group, committed to advancing a shared objective beyond the program.

ICD launched the inaugural class of GOHLI participants in 2025 and held its first successful Stakeholders’ Day in Boston. Stakeholders’ Day is the cornerstone of the GOHLI residential course, designed to complement the overarching theme of global leadership in oral health, and promote key aspects of GOHLI objectives to interested collaborators. The 2025 event provided an inclusive space for relevant and stimulating dialogue around the oral health concerns, challenges and emerging trends of today.

We are proud to share the 2025 Stakeholders’ Day Panel Session 1 and Panel Session 2 with ICD Fellows worldwide, to provide a glimpse into the Global Oral Health Leadership Institute in action, as well as educate Fellows about the program and its objectives.
