ICD Japan Honors Excellence and Explores Regenerative Medicine at 68th Assembly

The International College of Dentists’ Section VII Japan held its 68th General Assembly and Induction Ceremony at the Hotel Metropolitan Edmont Tokyo. Under the leadership of its 33rd Section President, Dr. Morioki Fujitani, the event celebrated professional achievement while highlighting the intersection of dentistry and cutting-edge medical science.

The Section formally inducted 12 new Fellows into the College. ICD International President Dr. Ian Doyle attended the ceremony, along with distinguished guests from South Korea, Taiwan, and the Philippines. Each new inductee received their certificate, mission statement, key, and badge.

A special lecture by Professor Emeritus Dr. Minoru Ueda of Nagoya University highlighted the day’s events. Titled “The Effect of Deciduous Tooth Stem Cells on Brain Regenerative Medicine,” his presentation detailed compelling research on the therapeutic potential of stem cells derived from human exfoliated deciduous teeth (SHED-CM). He covered applications for treating severe neurological conditions, including amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), post-stroke sequelae (AOS), and Alzheimer’s disease (AD). Video demonstrations showing patient improvements added a powerful, real-world impact to the session.

A warm and collegial reception concluded the event, featuring welcome remarks from the international guests and personal introductions by the newly inducted Fellows, which reinforced the bonds of global fellowship.
