The ICD GK Project is a humanitarian initiative dedicated to providing sustainable housing and livelihood opportunities for underprivileged communities in Saysayin, Bataan—a small fishing village located approximately 150 kilometers north of Manila. The majority of the beneficiaries are fisherfolk whose makeshift homes along the shoreline were structurally unstable and vulnerable to natural elements.
Despite the rain, in collaboration with the ICD Japan Section and the University of the East, the ICD Philippine Section conducted a community outreach activity that included a lecture on oral health awareness, the provision of dental treatments, and a site visit to the ongoing housing construction.
Four homes were successfully constructed, funded through the “Learn for a Cause” initiative, an Endodontic Enhancement Course conceptualized and led under the ICD Philippine Section’s programs. This effort highlights the impact that professional development activities can have when aligned with a social mission.
The ICD Japan delegation expressed deep admiration for the ICD Philippines’ efforts and commitment to service. Additionally, two more homes were formally turned over during the visit—generously donated by Fellow Maria Rosario Damatac and Dental System Inc.
This collective effort stands as a testament to the power of international cooperation, community service, and professional solidarity in improving lives beyond the clinic.
