Celebrating a Legacy of Fellowship in Salzburg
The International College of Dentists (ICD) Section Europe proudly continued its longstanding tradition of rotating its annual meeting across prominent European cities. Following gatherings in Amsterdam (2023) and Limassol (2024), this year’s 68th Annual Meeting took place in the picturesque city of Salzburg, Austria, from June 19–22, 2025. The event marked a historic high, with a record attendance of nearly 350 participants and the induction of 61 new Fellows—underscoring the growing influence and reach of the ICD across Europe.
The annual meeting typically centers around a two-day core program, including the Executive and Regents Board Meetings, a Scientific Program, a Humanitarian Forum, and the formal Induction Ceremony, all concluding with a Gala Dinner. The European Section often extends the program to include cultural and social events, and this year was no exception: a four-day schedule offered participants a rich blend of professional exchange, humanitarian engagement, and cultural immersion.
The festivities began Thursday with a classical chamber music concert in the renowned Wiener Saal of the Mozarteum, followed by a warm welcome reception at the KongressHotel Pitter Imlauer. Friday featured the Executive Board and Regents’ Meetings, with a guided sightseeing tour of Salzburg available for accompanying guests. The evening concluded with a lively reception at the legendary Stieglkeller, overlooking the historic old town
Scientific Engagement and Humanitarian Focus
Saturday was dedicated to the scientific program under the theme “Cranio-mandibular Disorders: All You Should Know.” This session also included the Humanitarian Forum, which highlighted the many impactful initiatives supported by the ICD Section Europe throughout the year. While Fellows engaged in lectures and discussions, accompanying guests visited the beautiful Hellbrunn Palace and enjoyed a relaxed lunch.
A key highlight of the event was the Induction Ceremony, held in the Grand Hall of the Mozarteum. This solemn, festive moment marked the official welcome of 61 new Fellows into the ICD community and was followed by a celebratory cocktail reception. The day concluded with the traditional Gala Dinner at the historic Archbishop’s Residence – the DomQuartier Salzburg—a truly majestic venue that provided a fitting conclusion to the formal events.
Looking Ahead: Milan 2026
For those who extended their stay, Sunday featured an optional excursion to the scenic Wolfgangsee, including a lake cruise and lunch at the famed Hotel Weißes Rössl, enhancing the camaraderie and networking that define ICD gatherings.
Carried by the spirit of enduring friendships, professional excellence, and humanitarian values, the 68th Annual Meeting in Salzburg perfectly embodied the mission of the ICD. Looking ahead, ICD Section Europe is pleased to announce that the 69th Annual Meeting will take place in Milan, Italy, from July 3–4, 2026, under the leadership of Section President and Global Vice President Prof. Mauro Labanca. Fellows and guests can look forward to another memorable event in one of Europe’s most vibrant cultural hubs.
