During business meetings, the College and leaders of the dental profession in Cuba agreed upon a plan for the CSS to become host for ICD in Cuba. he irst international president of ICD was Dr. Andrew O. Ware, of Havana, in 1928. he reuniting of Cuban dentists with ICD ater many years was made possible by the renewal of relations between Cuba and the United States. he event was generously supported by the GNYDM and USA ICD District 2 New York, and the President of USA Section I, Dr. Margot Culotta-Norton, addressed the new Fellows. Following the convocation, a reception for the new Fellows was hosted by the ICD Diamond Sponsor, International Congress of Oral Implantologists. he Honorable Dr. Fenton Ferguson was elected as Vice President of the Peoples National Party of Jamaica in 2016. Previously he served as the country’s Minister of Health. He brought to the Ministry of Health professional experience gained as a dental surgeon of over 33 years in the parish of St. homas. Dr. Ferguson is the new Regent of ICD Region 32. Dr. Coretta Fergus currently practices dentistry in Montserrat. She is employed as a dental surgeon within the Ministry of Health, Government of Montserrat, and owner of Regal Dental, a private dental oice. Dr. Fergus is Vice Regent of ICD Region 32. Dr. Irving McKenzie has served as the Chief Dental Oicer in the Ministry of Health, Jamaica, since January of 2004, and the Dean of the Joint Colleges of Medicine, Oral Health and Veterinary Sciences at the University of Technology, Jamaica. Dr. McKenzie is Registrar of ICD Region 32. Section XX held an international initiation ceremony for 24 new Fellows during the Greater New York Dental Meeting (GNYDM) on November 27, 2016. Nine nations sent candidates, representing ive distinct ICD units.
