SOS Children’s Villages have been present in Taiwan since the early 1970s, on the initiative of the president of the local “Child welfare league of Taiwan”. Over the recent decades, Taiwan has experienced many social changes as a result of the rapid economic growth and political transformation. SOS Children’s Villages has adapted its work to meet the needs of local children, young people and families. Currently, there is one SOS Children’s Village in Taiwan. Led by President Tseng, TICD had more than 10 Fellows involved in the mission. hanks to President Tseng’s and TICD Fellows’ eforts, the teachers, parents and students of SOS Children’s Village were grateful for the service and lessons. Induction & Convocation Ceremony he 2016 Induction Ceremony of the Taiwan Section was held on May 15, 2016. TICD was honored and privileged to have College President Dowell, Section VII President Kobayashi, Dr. Senda, Dr. Suda and Dr. Utahashi come to join us. Twelve new Fellows were inducted. he induction commenced with Fellow Ma leading the inductees into the ceremony hall. TICD President Tseng addressed in English to welcome Fellows and guests. College President Dowell gave a speech to highlight the importance and honor of being a Fellow. Ater the opening speeches, 2016 inductees were called to stage to be initiated. Dr. Wei-Te Shih pledged solemnly for all inductees to be committed to TICD goals. Ater the Pledge, Dr. Tseng moved the tassel, College President Dowell awarded the certiicate, Dr. Lan wore the key, Dr. Shiau wore the lapel pin and Dr. Lee gave the ICD cap to each inductee. TICD bylaws require strictly that inductees be present in the induction ceremony in order to be conferred the certiicate and fellowship. Following the Induction Ceremony, College President Dowell gave the Fellowship Orientation Program to the new Fellows. he banquet started at HELPING THE CHILDREN Dr. Shu-Fu Chang gives an oral examination to a boy at the SOS Children’s Village in Yangmei, Taiwan. With delicious food, ine wine and a live band, guests and Fellows had a great time.
