A banquet followed the ceremony during which two Fellows, May Saikali and Mardiros Nigolian, were awarded plaques and made Life Fellows. Convocation album. here was much emphasis at the Section Meeting on Humanitarian Action: a good part of the Regents’ meeting was devoted to that, and the decision was taken to allocate 30 percent of the net Section revenue to humanitarian work. Fellows will take turns in providing the care. 50th Anniversary Much of the remaining months of the year were spent in preparation for the 50th Anniversary Celebration Meeting, which was held on December 3, 2016, in Beirut. his consisted of a day-long continuing education program with a central theme of “Management of Complex Cases in Dentistry”. All speakers were Fellows or inductees, as well as our guest speaker Fellow Gil Alcoforado, who is Regent for Portugal in the European Section. Scientiic Day album. he lunch break was preceded by the handing of the “Zahi Khalaf Award” to the most distinguished dental student from the graduating class of all three dental schools in Lebanon. he award was handed to the deserving students by Past President Khalaf in the presence of the deans of the dental schools. Zahi Khalaf Award album. he Section received a Certiicate Philippe Souhaid, Regent of Section X, District 1, and Dr. Rima Abdallah from the Arab University Dental School. Subjects covered ranged from weight gain despite a good nutrition, the efect of ageing on cell function with regards to diet, and the role of hormones in the fat burning process. Finally the oral aspect was divided into two parts: caries prevention and diet control. Community service album. Operational Dental Clinic A new humanitarian project was initiated and organized by Section President Georges Tawil this year. he project consisted of the establishment of an operational dental treatment clinic attached to the hospice run by the Congregation of Saint Vincent of Paul in the Lebanese mountains. he hospice is home for more than 70 elderly and deprived individuals with no dental care in the house center.
