I would like to take this opportunity to pay tribute to those pioneers who believed in the ideals of the College, had the motivation and the vision and took the initiative to establish a chapter of the College in Lebanon, which was granted autonomy as a Section in 1966. he purpose of the small group they created was to put the Middle East on the world map and to recognize the qualiications of exceptional professionals who worked hard at raising the standards of dentistry and rendered meritorious services to the community. Since then, the group steadily grew. Over the years and in spite of the constant turmoil that the country witnessed in the past decades, it never spared any efort to spread scientiic knowledge and promote ethics in dental practice. Scientiic events organized by the Section were sought ater, and regular study clubs on critical issues in dentistry and related specialties were well attended. Lebanon was the place where all this happened because of the privileges the country ofered for the development of such activities. Extending the group to the neighboring countries was not an easy task due to internal regulations of each one. Yet, highly qualiied Fellows joined the college from all over the Middle East and are now working hard at spreading the ICD spirit. More Fellows will join in the future, and more districts will be created as soon as political stability and peace prevail. In selecting potential candidates, we always kept in mind that the invitation to join the ICD is not only a recognition of professional talent, but equally, an appreciation of the giving nature and human and moral values of the Fellow to be. his is how we believe the ICD will remain unique. his is the legacy we would like to give to the future generations. From the Vice President Nadim AbouJaoude A continuous build up to the celebration of the Section’s 50th Anniversary: this is, in brief, the roundup of 2016.
