Uruguay District he Alvarez Caldeyro Barcia Project, done by the Uruguay District, consisted of giving blankets to premature babies and their mothers in the Pereyra Rossell Children’s Hospital. he Uruguay District was also involved in implant mucous supported prosthesis, as well as an Oral Health Program for adults about the prevention of mucous disease. Issues of Importance he Fellows of Section IV South America, especially the new and young, are interested in social programs that improve society. In 2014, Section IV implemented the organization of the 1st South America Congress of the International College of Dentists, based on continuing education. his Congress was held at Punta del Este, Uruguay, in the 4th Mercosur Congress, where Section IV had the presence of Fellow and the Uruguay District will ofer internships in Periodontics at the public university and in Orthodontics at the private university. he Chile District will ofer the same internship in Maxillofacial Imaging. We think the internship concept is important for our Fellows, and we hope they will become active in it. Future Section Planning Section IV will try to identify new and young colleagues with an outstanding mode of life, personal and professional, for membership in the College. Section IV will also try to involve existing Fellows in various projects, like Congress and internships, in order to keep the existing Fellows active and interested in ICD. As Section IV inally welcomes Colombia as a District, it will begin to invite the other South America colleagues from Bolivia, Ecuador and Venezuela to join the Section and help keep it strong and healthy. Section IV album. Dr. John Hinterman. Section IV believes these kinds of academic meetings are very important to the ICD members of South America. Fellows have the opportunity to participate and be part of an International Congress. So, during the Chile Regents Reunion, it was decided that the South America ICD Congress will be held every three years. he next Congress will be in Argentina, in 2017. It will be multi thematic, and each District will designate two Fellows to give a conference. Section IV will send the information about the conference by the beginning of the year to Fellows worldwide, so that they will be able to attend if desired. Internships Also, our General Secretary is writing the bases for internships between our ICD Districts, so that Fellows can take short courses at our local universities. hese internships will be free, REGENT’S MEETINGThe leaders of Section IV met in Sao Paulo, Brazil on July 22-23, 2016 to discuss Section matters and issues of importance.
