b'IMPACT!TWO WEEKS IN TANZANIAOutreach treatments total $217,000 and countless smilesLONG-TERM IMPACTSwere made in the Kilombero District of Tanzania during a 10-day mission in September 2019. Fellows from ICD Section II Canada, led by Dr. Les Ennis, traveled to the small, rural town of Ifakara to provide the community with important dental care and education. The Semiahmoo Dental Outreach project was comprised of a 20-person team: six dentists (five of which are ICD Fellows), dental hygienists, a certified dental assistant, assorted support personnel and key members of the community that helped the team with transportation, clinic location and more. This all-encompassing team provided critical care to a country that reports an 80% unemployment rate, and a majority of school-aged children unable to attend lessons due to constant dental issues.2 0 J OURNAL OF THEI NTERNATIONALC OLLEGE OFD ENTISTS'
