Two humanitarian missions to give oral examination and oral hygiene education were performed in Miaoli on April 22, 2018, and in Taipei on August 23, 2018. The TICD New Fellow Induction Ceremony was held on May 27, 2018, successfully with our guests Dr. Clive Ross, ICD International President, Dr. Kikuo Tadashi Mizu- tani, President of Japan Section, Dr. Akira Senda, Dr. Motoko Suda and Dr. Reika Utahashi, all coming to Taiwan to join us. Section XII CHINESE TAIPEI Chinese Taipei Section collaborated with local groups to provide dental services to over 250 people during humanitarian missions in 2018. Registrar’s Report Hsin-Cheng Liu Social Service to Miaoli On April 22, 2018, TICD, in part- nership with Rotary Club of Taipei Chengpei and the Eden Founda- tion, gave a community oral service by TICD Fellows to children in Tung Lo, Miaoli. The April 22nd Earth Day Pro- gram was initiated to educate peo- ple in Taiwan about global warming and the climate change. Section XII seized the opportunity to team up with the Eden Social Welfare Foun- dation to offer dental hygiene les- sons and oral checkups for the pro- gram participants. More than 200 children and their families took part in the program taking placing in an area where medical resources are less available. Led by TICD President Dr. James, Ying-Kwei Tseng, and coordinated by Secretariat Dr. Hsin-Cheng Liu, a team of 12 dentists and two assis- tants, among whom were Interna- tional Councilor Dr. Yuh-Yuan Shiau and Section XII Councilors Dr. Wan- Hong Lan and Dr. Jenn-Hua Yao, Dr. Yueh-Chao Yang, and Dr. Chii- Chih Hsu offered their dental care to the local children and their families. Photo Album Social Service to Wanhua On August 23, 2018, TICD, again in partnership with Rotary Club of Taipei Chengpei, gave a community oral service by TICD Fellows to the students in the Wanhua district. Wanhua is one of the oldest areas in Taipei, and the economy is not so good in comparison with other districts. Usually, both parents must work to earn two incomes to feed their children. This may not be a problem when the kids go to school, but when the schools are closed in the summer and winter EARTH DAY MISSION TICD Fel- lows provided dental services to children on Earth Day 2018.
